摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion-compensating fiber which utilizes 1.3 &mu;m band zero dispersion single-mode optical fiber and which is suitable for a high-speed Raman amplification transmission system and the Raman amplification transmission system. <P>SOLUTION: The dispersion-compensating fiber F<SB>2</SB>is connected to a termination of 1.3 &mu;m band zero dispersion single-mode optical fiber F<SB>1</SB>so as to construct the high-speed Raman amplification transmission system. In this case, signal-to-noise ratio characteristics are improved by optimally designing the ratio of a length L<SB>1</SB>of 1.3 &mu;m band zero dispersion single-mode optical fiber F<SB>1</SB>to a length L<SB>2</SB>of the dispersion-compensating fiber F<SB>2</SB>(L<SB>2</SB>/L<SB>1</SB>) and Raman gain of the dispersion-compensating fiber F<SB>2</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
