<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a DNA breakage inhibitor to prevent the UV-induced breakage of the DNA of a fibroblast cell capable of producing collagen or elastin having a dermis regeneration activity. <P>SOLUTION: This DNA breakage inhibitor is composed of a wild thyme extract produced by extracting wild thyme. The breakage inhibitor decreases the adverse effect of ultraviolet rays on the skin to damage the DNA of fibroblast cell, deprive the regeneration power of dermis and promote the aging of the skin. A skin care preparation for external use compounded with the inhibitor is expected to have the preventing/ameliorating effect on the change of the skin caused by aging, such as wrinkles, darkening, roughening and loss of springiness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
