<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for recognizing and evaluating an image from a prescribed part of a printed matter. <P>SOLUTION: An aperture 14 for blocking a prescribed part of an image sensor is arranged in the light path of a camera. When the recognized image is read out from a first part, which is not blocked, of the image sensor, a first strength signal is read out. However, light, which is directly transmitted to the image sensor from a prescribed part of the printed matter, and diffused light reaching the image sensor are included in the first strength signal. When the recognized image is read out from a blocked second part of the image sensor, a second strength signal is read out. However, only diffused light reaching the image sensor 7 is included in the second strength signal. The second strength signal is subtracted from the first strength signal in an evaluation unit in order to obtain a third strength signal subjected to diffused light correction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
