A method for providing book and disk information by using the Internet and the SMS(Short Message Service) is provided to enable a user to receive simple index information or location information through the SMS in the case of searching for a book or a disk. A user accesses a corresponding website through his/her terminal and attempts searching for a desired book(102,103). At this moment, the server of the website executes searching through an internal or external DB server(104). In case that searching for the data suitable for the user's request is completed(105), the server judges whether the location information of the book exists(106). If the location information of the book exists, the server calculates the location of the book and the location of the user's terminal(107,108). The server selects a proper advertisement according to the index information, classification code or genre of the book(109). The server integrates the index and location information of the book and the information of the selected advertisement and transmits them to an SMS server(110).
