摘要 A light scanning unit and an image forming system employing the light scanning unit are provided to improve scanning efficiency by changing the path of a light beam emitted from a light source whenever a fluctuation direction of a fluctuation deflector is varied. A light scanning unit(1) includes a fluctuation deflector(7), a light source(2A,2B), an optical characteristic converter, and a beam path converter(9A,9B). The fluctuation deflector has a fluctuation mirror. The light source emits a light beam to a reflecting plane(11B) of the fluctuation mirror of the fluctuation deflector. The optical characteristic converter selectively converts the optical characteristic of the light beam inputted to the reflecting plane of the fluctuation mirror according to a fluctuation direction of the fluctuation mirror. The beam path converter converts the path of the light beam deflected by the fluctuation mirror according to the optical characteristic of the light beam.
