A method and an apparatus for processing analog encoder signals are provided to generate the orthogonal signal for controlling a motor and obtaining information about positions. An apparatus for processing analog encoder signals includes an analog encoder(200) to generate an orthogonal signal controlling the rotation of a motor, an analog encoder pattern generating unit(220), and a state lookup table generating unit(290). The analog encoder pattern generating unit receives an output signal of the analog encoder including at least one channel, sampling the signal with the predetermined sampling rate, and generates the encoder pattern which corresponds to the waveform of the output signal. The state lookup table generating unit receives the encoder patter, and generates the state lookup table which includes the predetermined number of encoder state information from the received encoder pattern. The orthogonal signal is generated by comparing the feedback output signal with the state information.
