An alarm release method in a portable terminal and an apparatus thereof is provided to release preset alarm information without an additional key operation in case an appointed event is detected before a preset alarm output time. The control part of a portable terminal confirms whether alarm information has been established(S201). In case that alarm information has been established, the control part confirms whether an event monitor time has been settled(S203). If so, the control part judges whether the hour belongs to the settled event monitor time(S207). In case that the present time is included in the set event monitor time, the control part judges whether an event to release the established alarm information is generated(S209). If the event is generated, the control part releases the preset alarm information(S213). In case the event is not generated, the control part judges whether the event monitor time expires(S217).
