<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an antenna comprising a strip line type left-hand system line, where aperture efficiency can be increased and a beam can be narrowed, and the amount of radiation can be controlled easily. <P>SOLUTION: In a strip line structure, both the surfaces of an intermediate layer 1 are surrounded by ground conductors 2, 3. An intermediate layer conductor 4 arranged in a dielectric 1 of the intermediate layer is composed of an aggregate of unit cells, where a metal pattern is formed on the surface of a dielectric substrate while the dielectric remains at the periphery, and is allowed to function in a left-hand system region. The line has a strip line type transmission mode, where an electric field concentrates on the metal pattern 4 of the intermediate layer, as a basic mode. A plurality of apertures 5 are provided periodically at one side 2 of the ground conductor of the line, and the area is changed, thus controlling the amount of radiation easily. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
