<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and composition of medications used to treat inflammatory bowel disease. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to combinations of anti-atypical mycobacterial agents effective against the atypical mycobacterial strains, preferably, the administration of rifabutin, clarithromycin, and clofazimine. At least one 5-aminosalicylic acid compound or 4-aminosalicylic acid compound is further contained. There is also provided a method of potentiating the anti-atypical mycobacterial agents in treatment of inflammatory bowel disease by immunising patients with extracts of non-pathogenic mycobacteria. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
