FIELD: medicine, pharmacy. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention proposes a pharmaceutical composition for oral administration that contains iota-carragheenan, one or more neutral gelatinizing polymer and the main pharmaceutically active component. The neutral gelatinizing polymer represents polyethylene oxide, polyethylene glycol, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose or mixture of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and polyethylene oxide. The main pharmaceutically active component represents preferably metoprolol.
