The assembly has a body element i.e. bonnet (2) made of steel, connected to a structural element (8) i.e. lower crosspiece, by a support (9) that is configured to subside and authorize the displacement of the element to dampen an impact applied on the element. Another body element (5) i.e. plastic part, is retracted during the displacement of the bonnet when the element (5) contacts with a rotation axle (7) of the vehicle. The body element is clipped, screwed or joined on the bonnet. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a body element on a carrier structure of a motor vehicle.
