The mold (10) has a connecting unit (18) with axial and radial blocking surfaces that are carried by an axial unit (14) and including grooves and ribs cooperating with grooves and ribs of complementary surfaces carried by radial segments (16). The surfaces are displaced between an open position in which the surfaces are separated and a closed position in which the surfaces cooperate with each other. A tire wall molding surface (20) is connected to a fixed part (14F) of the axial unit. The blocking surfaces carried by the axial unit are integrated to a mobile part (14M) mounted movable relative to the fixed part in the axial unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for vulcanizing a blank of a tire by a mold.
