PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine condition of a rotating machine, such as a generator, by analyzing signals on a shaft of the rotating machine more efficiently and in a more cost effective manner.SOLUTION: A method of monitoring shaft signals associated with a shaft of a rotating machine comprises; receiving voltage signals and current signals associated with the shaft of the rotating machine; determining voltage and current data associated with the machine from the received voltage and current signals; presenting at least a part of the determined voltage and current data to a user; checking a trend of at least the determined voltage data to at least determine voltage data trends associated with the machine; and determining from the voltage and current data if a fault condition has occurred, and generating an alarm signal or condition in response thereto.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
