PURPOSE:To enhance the lighting characteristic of a fluorescent lamp lighting device in a low temperature range by continuously passing only a filament preheating current for a fixed time after feeding of making power, and then controlling power supply so that a high voltage pulse is applied to a fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION:A lighting control circuit 6 which continuously passes a preheating current of filaments 3a, 3b for a fixed time after feeding of making power and which then controls power supply so as to apply a high voltage pulse to a fluorescent lamp 3 is provided; i.e. one kind of timer circuit 6 indicat ed by the dashed line frame in the figure is disposed between a power source 1 and a diode D2. Thus the filaments are sufficiently pre-heated and the lighting characteristic of the circuit is bettered, and so when in use within the low temperature range, the fluorescent lamp can be lighted as smoothly as at normal temperature. |
