PURPOSE:To obtain the phase change type optical recording medium which is large in the reflectivity of unrecorded parts and is high in the contrast of recorded parts and unrecorded parts by laminating a reflecting film and a protective film via separating layers on a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer 3 consisting of the light absorbing material having the separating layers 2, 4 respectively on both surfaces and a main chain type thermotropic liquid crystal is provided on a transparent substrate 1 and the reflecting layer 5 and the protective layer 6 are laminated via the layer 4 on the layer 3, by which the phase change type optical recording medium is formed. The phase change type optical recording medium which is large in the reflectivity of the unrecorded parts and is high in the contrast of the recorded parts and the unrecorded parts is obtd. by the constitution in which the light reflectivity of the unrecorded parts is increased by the reflecting film 5 having the high reflectivity and the recorded parts contain the light absorbent and are, therefore, decreased in the reflectivity by laser heating. |
