The conveying unit (1) has a conveying band (3,28) and a housing (4) that partially closes the conveying band. A deflection unit (5) is arranged in or at the housing for deflecting a gas flow (6) that flows along to the conveying band. The deflection unit is equipped for deflecting the gas flow transverse to the conveying band. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a combustor with material outlet; and (2) a method for conveying hot material with a conveying unit.
