The present invention relates to a thermal image sequence based target classification apparatus which can improve the accuracy of target classification by updating the kind and posture of a target, and a method thereof. The method may include: a step of extracting a target division image from a thermal image which is successively inputted; a step of classifying the kind and posture of the target based on the thermal image and the extracted target division information; a step of updating a target classification result in real time by checking a change in the kind and the posture of the classified successive target; and a step of outputting the updated target classification result.
