<p>PURPOSE:To provide a fermentation tank containing a stirring and mixing device and a raw material compression device in the tank, and capable of carrying out the aerobic fermentation of bulky and dried cellulosic raw material in high efficiency. CONSTITUTION:The stirring blades 2 are attached rotatably at the bottom of the fermentation tank 1, and a compression device composed of the pressurizing means 3 and the pressing plate 4 is attached to the top of the tank. The pressing plate is raised, the charging shutter 9 is opened, the bulky dried cellulosic raw material (e.g. water hyacinth) is charged into the fermentation tank 1, the stirring blades 2 are rotated to effect the sufficient mixing of the raw material, the pressing plate 4 is lowered by operating the pressurizing means 3 until the charged raw material is compressed to an adequate bulk density (or porosity), and the raw material is subjected to aerobic fermentation under the air flow sucked through the feed pipe 6 and exhausted from the exhaustion pipe 7. The mixing of the raw material during the fermentation can be carried out easily only by temporarily raising the pressing plate 4 and rotating the stirring blades 2.</p> |
