摘要 The present invention relates to a camera apparatus for a vehicle and a method for measuring a distance between the vehicle and an obstacle using the same, and more specifically, to a camera apparatus for a vehicle which is able to measure a distance between the vehicle and an obstacle without an ultrasound sensor installed in the vehicle and show the distance to a driver, and a method for measuring a distance between the vehicle and an obstacle using the same. Moreover, the camera apparatus for a vehicle comprises: a pattern display unit displaying a pattern on a ground surface beneath a rear portion of the vehicle; a camera unit obtaining a rear portion image with the pattern photographed; and an image processing unit detecting distortion in the photographed pattern and calculating the distance between the obstacle and the vehicle, and thus having effects of: recognizing the obstacles formed on an upper portion and a lower portion of the ground surface and measuring the distance between the obstacles and the vehicle by using a single camera and a light source without a need to install the separate ultrasound sensor; and reducing manufacturing costs and time spent on installing the ultrasound sensor during a car manufacturing process. Furthermore, the present invention has effects of: maintaining the quality of the vehicle by preventing rigidity of a bumper caused by the installation of the ultrasound sensor; and enhancing an external appearance by displaying the pattern in a grid structure with a specific color on the ground surface beneath the rear portion of the vehicle.
