PURPOSE:To surely detect load condition by installing a detection means to detect input current to be supplied to an inverter circuit and a recognizing means to recognize an object to be heated according to the input current detected by the detecting means when phase difference is set to be a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:High frequency electric power to be applied to a heating coil 19 for induction heating of an object to be heat is generated based on resonance between the heating coil 19 and a capacitor 21 for resonance in an inverter circuit 19 and a phase difference setting means 27 sets phase difference between the phase of output voltage of the inverter circuit 19 and the phase of current flowing in the capacitor 21 for resonance. An oscillating frequency controlling means 29 controls the oscillation frequency of the inverter circuit 9 so as to make the phase difference be the phase difference set by the phase difference setting means 27 and an input current detecting means 43 detects input current which is supplied to the inverter circuit 19. A recognizing means 35 recognizes an object to be heated based on the input current detected by the detecting means 43 when the phase difference is set a prescribed value. In this way, load condition is precisely detected.
