PURPOSE:To perform a conversion processing in a short time by using an adder for the conversion processing of a data expression format. CONSTITUTION:At the time of instructing the expression format conversion, an exponential part shifter 10 performs the processing based on a shift variable signal C2 from an operation preprocessing means 8 and outputs the output to an exponential part processing means 12 as an exponential part E2 during the operation. A maintissa part shifter 5 shifts the fixed-point part selected by a selector 3 based on a shift variable signal C1 sent from the operation preprocessing means 8 and outputs the result to an adding means 6. The adding means 6 adds the output of the selector and the output of a selector 4 (numerical value '0' is inputted at the time of instructing the expression format conversion) and generates and outputs an addition result C7 and information C6 accompanied with the result which is required for normalization after operation. Thus, the processing time is shortened since the conversion processing of the data expression format is easily realized with only one instruction. |
