A heat exchanger tube is provided with a helical fin of soft aluminium having a plurality of tapering and radially extending thickened portions forming ribs C, whereby the fins are strengthened and the fluid flow over the fin is made turbulent to increase the heat transfer rate. The fin may be of plate form secured in a helical groove in the tubing or alternatively of L-section fixed to the outer surface of the tubing.</p> |
