摘要 <p>2,4,6 - Trichloro - 2,4,6 - triphenyltriphosphonitriles are prepared by reacting a solution of phenyltetrachlorophosphorane (#fPCl4) in an inert solvent, with solid NH4Cl, the concentration of #fPCl4 in the solvent being maintained during the course of the reaction at a value not exceeding 10-4 moles per litre of solvent. Suitable solvents are halogenated benzenes such as chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, 1,2-dichlorobenzene and 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene and aliphatic hydrocarbons such as nonane, hexane, heptane and isohexanes. The ammonium chloride preferably has a particle size of less than 10 microns and may be prepared by passing gaseous HCl and gaseous ammonia into the inert solvent. A suitable temperature range is between 60 DEG and 150 DEG C. The 2,4,6-trichloro-2,4,6-triphenyltriphosphonitrile may be recovered from the reaction mixture by first removing excess ammonium chloride by filtration or by adding water and heating at 80 DEG to 100 DEG C., evaporating the reaction mixture to obtain a residue and extracting the residue with an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent selectively to separate the 2,4,6-trichloro-2,4,6-triphenyltriphosphonitriles.</p>
