PURPOSE:To facilitate the rotational control of the image data and to display it at a high speed when no coincidence is secured between the read scanning direction of an original and the character string direction by storing the input image data into an image memory, etc., after application of the rotational processing. CONSTITUTION:The contents of an original are read via an original feeding operation of an input device 10 and a read scanning operation of a scanner, etc., and stored in a memory 12. The original direction designating means 16-1 and 16-2 are provided to a control panel 14 to individually designate the character string direction B of a vertical or horizontal writing way of the original for such an input device that can read the originals of the same size with coincidence secured in the read scanning direction of only the vertical or horizontal writing way. Thus the image data given from the device 10 is rotated 18 so as to secure the coincidence between both character string directions A and B and then stored in the memory 12 with operations of both means 16-1 and 16-2 at reception of a report on designation of the direction B noncoincident with the direction A. |
