Liquid (water) from a main 1 having fluctuating pressure is supplied to a jet pump 4 which induces additive (disinfectant) from an open container 6; the mixing operation is controlled in frequency and duration by operation of solenoid valve 3 by float 9 in an open vessel 8 to which the mixture is supplied, and from which it is continuously supplied under constant pressure to delivery conduits 12 by mechanical pump 10. There is a delivery pressure relief valve and by-pass 13, 14. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the vessel 8 is closed and is under constant air pressure which discharges the mixture, and the float 9 controls both solenoid valve 3 and a mechanical pump (15) upstream of the jet pump. In another modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) the jet pump is replaced by a venturi tube (19) the pressure drop across which is used to express the additive from a flexible bag (22). |
