945,128. Two-part couplings combined with switches. LORRAINE-ESCAUT. Sept. 18, 1962 [Sept. 18, 1961], No. 35515/62. Heading H2E. A transportable machine (not shown) is connected to the supply mains at various points in a factory by a coupling which is automatically isolated by a switch when uncoupled. Secured to the base of the machine is a plug 1 having a rigid earth contact stud 3 and three spring- loaded contact studs 4, one per phase. The cooperating mains outlet unit comprises a base 8 with a telescopic cover 14 held away from the base by a spring 11. Contact studs 16 on the cover 14, separated by ribs moulded in the hard rubber top of the cover, are connected to plug pins 15a, 15b, the three longer pins 15a being for the 3 phase motors, and the two shorter pins 15b for a pilot circuit. The earth contact stud 13 is connected to a pin 12 which slides within an earth contact socket of sufficient length to ensure permanent connection. As the machine, together with plug 1 are lowered on to the outlet unit, the studs 3, 4, 13, 16 make contact and then as the cover 14 is forced downwards the mains pins 15a enter sockets 17 on the base, and finally the pilot pins 15b enter their sockets and the main supply is then energized either automatically or manually in response to a signal from the pilot circuit. |
