A motor speed controller comprising resistors connected to contact strips 5 successively engaged by a sloping plate 9 when a plunger 6 is depressed, has an adjustable stop rod 10 which abuts a projection 15 to limit the travel of plunger 6 and hence the maximum speed of the motor. Rod 10 has two axially-displaced radial projections 16 and 17 for selective cooperation with one of three radial notches 18 of different depths arranged at different angular positions in the underside of part 12 of plunger 6. One side of part 12 is cut away to avoid interference with projections 16 and 17. Thus by inserting a screwdriver in slot 22 at the top of rod 10, depressing the rod against the actionof retraction spring 8 and rotating it, any one of six different maximum amplitudes of depression of plunger 6 may be selected. |
