PURPOSE: To prevent excessive fuel supply to a turbine and resulting excessive combustion temperatures by setting fuel flow to the turbine so that it matches compressor inlet air temperatures and guide vane positions. CONSTITUTION: A multidimensional data base, having values of at least two independent variables including compressor inlet air temperatures and guide vane positions and values showing fuel flow to a combustion turbine 19 which are adapted to prevent excessive firing temperatures corresponding to the compressor inlet air temperatures and operation at the guide vane positions, is generated and stored in a controller 14 connected to control a plurality of operating parameters of the combustion turbine 10. A pair of signals S showing the compressor inlet air temperature and the guide vane position which are monitored from sensor means is received and flow rates corresponding to the signals S are periodically determined from the data base. Therefore, the combustion turbine 10 can be protected from excessive combustion or cycle temperatures.
