PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 2,4-DINITRO ANILINE

A process for preparing 2,4-dinitroaniline of formula (I) comprises a reaction of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene of formula (II) and NH3 gas in a mixture soln. of H2O and a lower alcohol of formula ROH (where R= C1-4 alkyl) in the presence of a dispersing agent. Pref. the weight atio of the dispersing agent to (II) is 0.1-2.0 wt.%. The lower alc. is pref. methylalcohol or ethylalcohol. (I) is useful as an intermediate in the mfr. of dispersing dyes.
