1,221,514. Hardening photographic gelatine layers. CIBA Ltd. Feb.7, 1969 [Feb. 9, 1968], No.6730/69. Heading G2C. Photographic gelatine-containing layers are hardened by incorporating a hardening agent into said layers or an adjacent layer, the hardening agent being a colourless, pyridazine, pyrimidine, pyrazine or 1:3:5-triazine compound which is free from acidic groups and which contains a halogen atom attached to heterocyclic carbon and an organic residue linked with the heterocycle directly or through a sulphur or oxygen atom. The hardener is added to the gelatine solution before coating and may be incorporated into a silver halide emulsion layer or into inter layers, filter layers, subbing layers or baryta layers. The hardeners are preferably halogens-1 :3: 5- triazines or halogens-pyrimidines and the organic residue may be an alkyl, chloralkyl, benzyl, phenyl, thienyl or alkoxy, cyclohexoxy, phenoxy, allyloxy, prop-2-ynyloxy, methoxyethoxy or 2:4-dichloro-1:3:5-triazinyloxy-propoxy group. |
