PURPOSE:To enable effectively operate a device for conditioning air by applying, to the control of cleanliness, ventilation, and the like of air, the property of a solid-electrolyte type gas sensor to generate electromotive force by the use of a carbon gas and an alcohol. CONSTITUTION:Use is made of a solid-electrolyte type gas sensor of an alkali- ionic electric conductor which has a detective electrode of an alkali metal carbonate and an electrode being of gold paste and insensitive to gases. This sensor has a property of being reactive with both CO2 gas and an alcohol gas and generating electromotive force by the reaction. This property is in use for sensing foulness of indoor air, that is, the detection of CO2 discharged by occupants and the detection of a disagreeable alcoholic odor, the former function working as that of a CO2 sensor and the latter function as that of an alcohol sensor, and with generation of outputs sufficient for the control of a device for conditioning air in both functions. The outputs are amplified and turned into signals for switching an air cleaner, ventilating fan, air conditioner, and the like and/or for the continuous control all in conditioning the quality of air. |
