Rotary plate-slitting shears comprise frames 10, 11, driven shafts 22, 23, rotatable in bearings 24, which carry disc cutters 25, 26 and eccentrics 14, 15 between the frames rotatable through gears (16)-(18) Fig. 3 (not shown) to displace the upperframe 10 to and from the lower frame 11. The shaft 22 can be moved axially to vary the horizontal spacing between the cutters by means of a sleeve 31 slidable in the frame 10, held against rotation by a key 32 and secured to a sleeve 31A in which the shaft 22 is rotatable. The shaft bearing 24 is located in the sleeve 31. Spur gear 3, in engagement with the threaded exterior of the sleeve 31A, is driven via gear 35 from motor 36 to cause axial movement of the bearing 24 and thus of the shaft. The frames 10, 11 can be moved vertically in unison by means of a driven shaft 51, levers 49, 50 screwed on to the shaft and depending from the axles 39 of wheels 42, 43 running on beams 37, 38 and eccentrics 44, 45 also mounted on the axles 39 and connected to brackets 46, 47 depending from the frame 11. Rotation of the shaft 51 displaces the levers 49, 50 and the eccentrics and thus the frames 11 and 10. The frames 10, 11 can also be moved horizontally in unison by means of horizontally-driven shafts (58) Fig. 2 (not shown) rotatable in blocks (55), (56) spaced along a sub frame (58) of the shear and carrying nuts (59) received in brackets (61) depending from the frame 11. Clamping means (not shown) may be provided to maintain predetermined adjustments of the shear parts described.</p> |
