A press platen comprises projecting pins 4a secured in apertures 1a in a plate 2a by a layer of plastics 6 adhering to the pins and the plate. The platen is of the type described in Specification 888,636, to which reference is made. The plastics layer 6 may be reinforced with glass fibre, and grooves (7), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be formed in the pins for keying with the plastics. The pins may project unequally beyond the surface 3, and the projecting part may be of different cross-section from that located in the plate 2a. In another form, Fig. 10 (not shown),. the pins are of rectangular cross-section.</p> |
