摘要 PURPOSE:To accelerate the response speed of liquid crystal and to expand a visual field angle by setting the retardation of two sheets of liquid crystal panels at the same level or almost the same level and providing a matrix electrode at the liquid crystal panel on one side. CONSTITUTION:When the liquid crystal panel 10 on which liquid crystal molecules 75 are oriented vertically is laminated on the liquid crystal panel 12 on which liquid crystal molecules 55 are oriented horizontally, and light l1 vertical to the liquid crystal panel 12 enters, the liquid crystal of the panel 12 functions as double refraction for the light l1 and no liquid crystal of the panel 10 functions. Meanwhile, when light l2 having a certain angle (phi) is made incident on the liquid crystal panel 12, the function of double refraction for the light l2 by the liquid crystal of the panel 12 is decreased by the angle (phi), and the function of double refraction by the light l2 by the liquid crystal of the panel 10 is increased by the angle (phi). Therefore, when the light enters obliquely, the decrement of the function of double refraction of the panel 12 is offset by the increment of the function of double refraction by the panel 10. In such a way, the function of the liquid crystal for the light remains unchanged even when the visual field angle is increased, and the characteristic of the visual field angle can be improved.
