1292215 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 15 Jan 1970 [16 Jan 1969] 1938/70 Heading F1A In a fuel injection pump having a rotating and distributing plunger 1, 25 the delivery volume is regulated by a hydraulically actuated spool 18, having two or more return governor springs 21, 22 with a non-linear combined characteristic, which controls the spill passage 19a, 19b. Fuel is supplied to the injectors via passages 3 and to one end face of the spool 18 via passage 27 which opens into cylinder 29. The fuel moves the spool against the action of the springs 21, 22 during injection; on the suction stroke fuel is ejected from cylinder 29 via passage 31. A throttle in passage 31 restricts the flow and at a particular engine speed and throttle setting the spool is not returned to its original position and the spill passage remains open. The spool may have an oblique control edge and be coupled to the spring abutment 33, which may be adjustable Fig. 2 (not shown), for rotation therewith to control spill. The arrangement of the governor springs allows for greater control of supply under various running conditions. |
