A permanent magnet 18 turns clockwise in response to current through a winding 1 representing an additive pulse or counter-clockwise if the current is reversed, representing a subtractive pulse. Pawls 16, 15 connected by a rod 17 are thus rocked to engage oppositely directed ratches 24 or 23. Armature 5 then lifts to rock lever 7. The end of the pulse allows spring 10 to restore lever 7 to drive the appropriate ratchet and therefore the counter wheel 19 in forward or reverse direction. A flat 26 on lever 7 halts the wheel after one step. |
