<p>Projecting element can be received in the pipe bore near end to be widened. Means contact the outer pipe surface opposite the element and cooperate with it to clamp the pipe wall between them while the end to be widened remains free. A widening tool is carried on the element for rotation relative to it around the pipe axis and for movement along this axis relative to the element. The tool has a surface, perp. to this axis, which locally contacts the pipe wall and bends it away and which progressively deforms the wall of the free pipe end axially against the element and also radially from the axis by these motions.</p> |
