[Also in Division H1] Electrostatographic carrier particles comprise a matrix material at the external surface thereof, said matrix containing solid, finely-divided conductive particulate material. Preferably the particles comprise a core surrounded by a layer of resin, the conductive particles being dispersed uniformly through the resin or being concentrated at the surface thereof, e.g. by impact. In the examples, particles of carbon black, hydrazine sulphate, aminoguanidine sulphate, Al, PbO 2 or aurin tricarboxylic acid are incorporated into carrier particles consisting of nitrocellulose, or of steel or glass beads coated with copoly (styrene /methyl methacrylate/vinyl triethoxy silane), copoly (vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate) + a blue dye, polyphenylene oxide, or polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl chloride. Other metals, metal oxides, metal salts and complexes may also be used as the conductive particles. |
