In a printing machine in which a platen roller 62, Fig. 2, moves over an assembly comprising a carbon ribbon 61 above a copy web 60 and an upwardly facing relief printing plate 32 mounted upon a vertically movable bed plate 30, provision is made such that clear reproductions of the matter upon the plate 32 regardless of the number of copy webs, or sheets, and carbon ribbons or papers, between the platen roller and the bed plate may be effected on every web or sheet to be printed. Such provision is effected by resiliently loading the plate 30 in an upward direction and providing a pivoted sensor shoe 25, Fig. 4, so that when the thickness of the assembly reaches a predetermined figure the plate 30 is looked "solid" and becomes non-resilient. The platen roller 62 is in two parts 63, 64 relatively rotatable selective uses of each part being obtained by an eccentrically mounted shaft 65.</p> |
