Lighting cigarettes or cigars without using matches or lighters is achieved by applying an ignition mixture consisting of 70% KClO3, 18% Sb2S5 and 12% gum arabic to the ignition end of the cigarette, so that the cigarette is lit by friction against a frictional surface, pref. provided as part of the packet surfaces. The ignition mixture is treated with water to syrupy consistency; applied to cigarette end, by immersion, or by dripping on, or on thin strips of paper, and dried. |
