Continuous casting of steel using a movable false bar

Hole in the bottom of the ingot-mould is closed with the top of a false-bar at the beginning of the casting and molten steel is added. A joint is made between the false-bar and the forming ingot to enable the ingot to be extracted after casting; at the end the joint is broken by twisting the false-bar and moving it along its axis. The false-bar is easy to remove and the ingots are not scarred and damaged.
