A bituminous comp. for road construction comprises a mineral mixture having a bituminised filler and a bitumen soln., the mineral mixture consisting of granules of size 1-8 mm and 18-30 p.b.wt. filler/100 p.b.wt. mixture, the filler comprising 27-45% wt. short fibre asbestos and half of the desired amount of bitumen, the remaining portion of bitumen being present as a soln. The filler may comprise at least 30% wt. fine sand.
