A combustion gas generator comprises a combustion chamber, a turbine driven by hot gases from the combustion chamber, a first compressor for supplying dilution air to the combustion chamber, a second compressor for supplying an air/fuel mixture to a burner disposed within the combustion chamber, there being means for mixing fuel with air flowing to the second compressor, the compressors being driven by the turbine; an ejector is provided for entraining air either with the exhaust gases discharging from the turbine or with air tapped from the first compressor, there being means for supplying fuel to the air and gas mixture or air flowing through the ejector and means for igniting said fuel. The plant shown in Fig. 1 comprises a shaft 11 on which are mounted a first compressor rotor 17, a second compressor rotor 16 and a turbine rotor 12. The second compressor 16 supplies an air/fuel mixture through line 31 to the combustion equipment 24 and the first compressor 17 supplies dilution air through line 21 to the equipment 24. Gases from the combustion equipment pass through inlet 14 to drive the turbine 12, the exhaust gases from the turbine finally passing through outlet 15 to a point of use. In Fig. 2 the exhaust gases from the turbine pass through line 15 to an ejector 35 which acts to draw in ambient air, the exhaust gas/air mixture passing to a combustion chamber 36. Fuel is supplied to the ejector 35 from a source 37 through a venturi device 38 to which air under pressure tapped from the first compressor 17 is supplied. The mixture in chamber 36 is ignited by device 39 and the combustion gases discharge through line 40 to a point of use. In Fig. 3 the exhaust gases from the turbine 12 discharge straight through outlet 15 to a point of use. A portion of air from the first compressor 17 passes to an ejector 35 to draw in ambient air, the mixture passing to combustion chamber 36. The air from compressor 17 also acts in a venturi device 38 to draw in fuel from a source 37; alternatively fuel may be supplied to the ejector 35 through a spray nozzle 41. The mixture in chamber 36 is ignited by device 39 as in Fig. 2.
