PURPOSE:To monitor a communication charge for each DTA by allowing a charging control section to select a DTE requesting call information from terminal identification information in a call request packet and adding the charge information. CONSTITUTION:When a request of communication start comes from, e.g. a DTA 65, a gateway processor 8 sends a call request packet 9 to a subscriber line 7. A value identifying a calling DTE 65 is set to low 2-digit of a call DTE address of the packet 9. A control section 5 of a packet exchange 1 recognizes it that a calling terminal equipment is the processor 8 based on the content of the calling DTE address and obtains required information from a relevant subscriber data memory 4. One, e.g. 2a of call control memories 2a-2n is acquired. The content of a call DTE address in the packet 9 is stored in the memory 2a. Then the transferred data quantity is counted by a counter 21 and the charge information is added to a charge counter 35a.
