A prestressed concrete storage reservoir is provided for holding liquified gases. To increase the quantity of ambient gas stored in the reservoir and to permit a warmer than normal liquification temperature, the gas is stored under a substantial pressure. The structure is characterized by a prestressed sidewall system with the roof and floor systems tied together by a plurality of vertically prestressed columns, these combined systems being substantially independent of the sidewall whereby the combined systems may move substantially structurally free of the sidewall.
