PURPOSE:To improve oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., by adding Al-Cr alloy powder having Al/Cr molar ratio being in a specific range to a refractory material consisting of carbonaceous raw material and alumina based refractory material and having prescribed composition at a prescribed amount. CONSTITUTION:(A) 5-90wt.% carbonaceous raw material (e.g. graphite or coke) is blended with (B) 95-10wt.% alumina based refractory material (e.g. sintered alumina) and (C) 0.5-10wt.% Al-Cr alloy powder having Al/Cr molar ratio of (90/10)-(26/74). Then the blend is kneaded and dried to provide the carbon- containing unburned refractory. Excellent oxidation resistance and excellent corrosion resistance to slag and melted metal can be provided to the carbon- containing unburned refractory having excellent spalling resistance and hot strength by addition of the component C. Furthermore, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., can be improved by adding boron carbide, boron nitride, AlN powder, etc., thereto. |
