A hydrostatic slide bearing comprises a slide 16 which engages with a guide 12 attached to a base 10, the slide being provided with projections 17, 18, 19 which engage in recesses formed in or by the guide and base, hydrostatic bearing pads being provided on the projections so as to support the slide in two mutually perpendicular directions. Liquid is supplied to the bearing surfaces via restrictors. The slide and/or guide may be formed of a plurality of separate elements. |
