Photocopying and magnetic recording re enhanced by employing a recording medium, such as a heat-sensitive paper or a magnetic film adjacent to a semiconductor layer. When the semiconductor is exposed to a low level light image, a charge pattern is created in its surface which is retained and which produces a conductivity pattern in the semiconductor layer. The application of radio-frequency power to the semiconductor converts the conductivity pattern to a heat pattern which is recorded as a visible image on the heat-sensitive paper or as data on the magnetic film.
