PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin having good properties while reducing the amount of a chlorofluorohydrocarbon having a fear of destroying the ozone layer by using water as a blowing agent and a specified aminic diol as part of an active hydrogen compound. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a rigid expanded synthetic resin by reacting an active hydrogen compound having at least two NCO-reactive active hydrogen-containing functional groups with a polyisocyanate compound in the presence of a blowing agent, wherein at least 4 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. active hydrogen compound, water is used as part of the whole of said blowing agent, and an aminic diol obtained by reacting 1mol of an amine of the formula: R-NH2 (wherein R is an 8-25C aliphatic hydrocarbon group, a 6-25C aliphatic hydrocarbon-substituted aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group) with at least 2mol of an ethylene oxide-based alkylene oxide is used as part of said active hydrogen compound. An expanded synthetic resin having good properties can be produced while the amount of a chlorofluorohydrocarbon such as R-11 having a fear of destroying the ozone layer can effectively be reduced. |
