1350335 Mono- and di-isocyanato-p-quinones BAYER AG 4 Feb 1972 [5 Feb 1971] 5241/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds having the general formula wherein Hal represents a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom, and R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, each represent a hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom, or a C 1 to C 12 alkyl, C 5 to C 12 cycloalkyl, nitro, cyano, C 1 to C 4 halogenoalkyl, carboalkoxy, alkylcarbonyl, arylcarbonyl, aryloxy, alkyl mercapto or aryl mercapto group, or one of the radicals R 1 or R 2 represents an isocyanato group or R 1 and R 2 together represent an aromatic or heterocyclic ring. They may be prepared by reacting a mono- or di-amino-p-quinone carrying a halogen substituent in the adjacent position to at least one amino group in an inert organic solvent with at least 1 mol. of oxalyl chloride per mol. of amino groups. The compounds of the invention may be used for the production of polyurethane plastics material. |
